Gold Leaf Christmas Art

Christmas is my favorite holiday and the Christmas season is my favorite time of year! I love the coziness that you feel every day, the happiness that people feel, and perhaps one of my favorite things about the holidays is the decorations.

Being a craft lover makes this season extra magical. Every other time of the year, I try and keep my crafting under control and mostly make things that I need for my home (this can be very difficult). Christmas is like freedom from all of that! I get to create and decorate as much as I want and there is no such thing as too much! Its wonderful!!

DIY Christmas art! Gold leaf on canvas

One of the things that has made it onto my list of things to try is this Gold Leaf Christmas Art from Kelly at View Along The Way. Its creative, beautiful and it really stands out! For the full tutorial on this art, click here!

DIY Round Pleated Pillow

I just got a sewing machine not too long ago...ok fine it was almost a year ago but I still don't know how to use it all that well. When I see tutorials like this one, it helps me to be confident that I can sew like a pro!

Round Pleated Pillow Tutorial - Melly Sews

Isn't this such a cute pillow?! You would pay a pretty penny for a pleated pillow like that at the store but Melissa has a great tutorial on how to make one yourself!

Friday Feature: Painted Wooden Vases

Normally I try not to feature too many shops but today I'm breaking my rule. I try to feature things that can be easily done at home and since this is a handmade item, technically its a homemade craft! *wink* Plus these Painted Wooden Vases just too beautiful to keep from you! I had to share!

Aren't those just gorgeous?! They could also be done at home with some dollar store vases, masking tape and paint but in case you want to save yourself some time and purchase these little beauties, check out Sonia's shop ShadeOnShape and check out all her cool items!

Pom Pom Balloons! {Feature}

I announced earlier this month, and I hope you got a chance to read it, that my hubby and I are expecting our first baby! Naturally, I have been on the lookout for great crafts for kids and then I stumbled upon this super cute idea for a kids party or I guess it could be for any party!

Embroidered Elephant Art {Feature}

Don't you love it when you give someone a gift and they comment on how beautifully wrapped the gift is? It just makes you feel so good!! Does anyone else feel that way or is it just me? It looks like the creator of this beautiful embroidered gift box understands my thinking.

Not only does this make for a beautiful gift, but Laura's idea to give a frame along with the original gift now makes it a 2-in-1 gift set! Its genius! Head over to The Experimental Home to see the full tutorial and other creative, crafty ideas!

Knockoff Nate Berkus Hurricane Vases {Feature}

I'm sure you have all figured this out by now but I absolutely LOVE candle holders. I look at them every time I go to the store! I just cant get ehough of them so it's always great when I find a good deal on them.

It looks like Crystal over at A Pumpkin & A Princess felt the same way about these hurricane vases she found at Target but at $20 per vase, I don't blame her for passing up on them. They are pretty vases though! Here is an image of the original vases found at Target:

Instead of saying "oh well!", she did what any crafter would do and created her own version! Personally I like her version better and at less than $3 per vase, I might just have to make some of my own!! Check these beauties out:

Can't find the right fabric? No worries, just make your own!

When I was working on my chair project, I had a really hard time finding the right fabric. It took me weeks. I know that sounds a little crazy but I wanted it to be perfect. I ended up finding the right fabric and they turned out great but I was reaching the end of my rope. I wish I had just done what Jen over at TaterTots & Jello did. It would have been much easier!

Gorgeous! Am I right? I love that when she couldn't find the right fabric she just decided to make it herself! It has inspired me! Now I know that I don't have to settle for whatever choices my local fabric store has. All I have to do is buy white fabric and a stencil and I'm set! For her full tutorial, click here!

DIY Craft Desk: Feature!

The hubby and I are in the midst of building a craft central/command central desk for our home so I have been looking at LOTS of inspiration! I'm going to share the best one I have seen with you guys.

I love how Jannypie used the bookshelves she already had to create storage for this desk. It is genius! She even explains how to attach the side piece to this desk in a way that won't show the screws. Thats some valuable information right there! Now its time to get going on that desk! I will have updates soon!
