DIY Tufted Headboard

I love tufted headboards. They are so beautiful and dreamy and they really add a wow-factor to your bedroom. There is just something about framing out a bed that makes it feel so much more elegant.

When I have seen pre-made tufted headboards, they are always either WAY too expensive or they have some funky fabric on them that just would not work. I have seen a few tutorials on how to make your own tufted headboard and I recently came across one that was so cute! Look at this:

So cute! It really completes the bed but its not so heavy that it takes over the room. I also really like the little window decoration above it! I just like the whole airy feeling of this bedroom.

Made By Me Mondays #4: Monogram Peacock Mirrors

I'm SO happy to be finished with these mirrors!! I've been working on them for two weeks now and I've only been able to do a little bit at a time but they are finally done!

I found these red IKEA mirrors at a garage sale for $1 a piece

I got three of them and I was thinking they would be beautiful above our bed! They have so much potential!!

While I loved these mirrors, red does NOT go with our bedroom so I decided to paint them white and put a cute little design on them! I had a hard time picking out which design to do. I tried bamboo, a cute little boxy pattern, and a few other ones but nothing looked good...finally I decided on peacocks!! Here is how I made them (this is a pretty easy little project):

Materials needed:

1: Three square mirrors from IKEA ($1.00 per piece from garage sale)
     2: Painters tape (Michaels)
     3: White paint (Michaels)
     4: Gold paint sharpie (Michaels)

Step 1: Tape off the mirror so you dont get paint on it. After you do that, paint your mirrors white (dont forget the edges!!). This might take a few coats :)

Step 2: Find cute pictures of you and your husbands initials and put them on one of the mirrors using the gold paint sharpie.

Step 3: Find a drawing of a girly looking peacock and put it on the second mirror.

Step 4: Find a drawing of a manly looking peacock and put it on the last mirror.

Step 5: Put them all together and hang them on the wall!

I would love to see what you guys come up with if you take on a project like this (or any other project for that matter)!!

Patchwork Headboard

Right before Eric and I got married, our home got flooded. This was a little inconvenient at the time, but now that we are back in our home and we can look back on that time, it was a blessing in disguise. Before the flooding, our place was definitely a bachelor pad. (of course it was! We weren't quite married yet) It had white walls, white floors, cords everywhere hooking up game systems to TV's and sound systems...it was a little..well, uninspiring.

Since our place got flooded, everything had to be ripped out and redone. This was like a golden opportunity for me to redecorate our place. We got the walls painted, new floors and all that fun stuff. It seemed like everything was done but I keep finding things that I still need to do!

One of the rooms that has gone a little unnoticed is our bedroom. No one sees it but us it so it is kinda the last room to be decorated. We have a bed set and a bookshelf. I want to make a headboard for our bed to make it look a little more grown up and put together and this mini-tutorial from Better Homes & Gardens has given me some awesome inspiration!

Granted, our bedroom is not orange, its blue, but the nice thing about this headboard is its homemade so I can make it whatever color I want! I just think it is such a contemporary way to do a beautiful custom, comfy headboard. I can't wait to try it and when I do, I will let you all know!
